The Sojourner of Worlds Presents: The Alchemist
Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed guests all,
As foretold in the inaugural entry of the Sojourner of Worlds project, our next instalment leads us into the demesne of one of the genre’s great masters. The work I have chosen is not one of his later, more labyrinthine pieces, but rather a tale penned in the fervour of youth – when the author was but a teenager, yet already tracing the outlines of what would become a legendary and unmistakable voice.
It is a story steeped in mystery and quiet dread, suspended in the dim glow of candlelight as the narrator recounts his tale – granting us but a hint of illumination that grows steadily but gently until its final crescendo and a most terrific revelation.
The work to which I refer is The Alchemist, by Howard Phillips Lovecraft.
In my retelling of this early and atmospheric piece, I step into the voice of the narrator himself. Adopting his weary cadence, his solemn inheritance, and the tremors of unease that accompany his every recollection. It is through his hand, steady or trembling as the moment demands, that these memories are etched upon the parchment of this memoir.
So, without further ado, I present to you:
The Alchemist, by H.P. Lovecraft, brought to life by Aetherborne Creations.
